Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne or ANL) is seeking a Chief Patent Counsel with a strong business partnership mindset for our Legal Department. You will join a team of nine attorneys and five support staff and report to our General Counsel in support of the mission and operation of a U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled attorney to provide legal advice and counsel concerning a wide range of intellectual property (IP) and technology matters, in particular with regard to patents, IP protection and prosecution, consistent with the Prime Contract and existing law. This position will deliver the following: Accountabilities:<ul><li>Work with the ANL General Counsel and Science & Technology Partnerships and Outreach (S&TPO) personnel, DOE attorneys, other ANL attorneys and legal staff to advise ANL management and staff on matters involving intellectual property protection and prosecution</li><li>Identify, report and protect intellectual property developed at Argonne</li><li>Assist in the evaluation of new inventions and software to determine patentability, commercial potential and programmatic value</li><li>Initiate patent applications and prosecute patents, trademarks and copyrights when in the best interests of the lab</li><li>Develop Laboratory policies, procedures, and initiatives related to intellectual property; Chief Patent Counsel

The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking an Assistant Scientist with an emphasis on transformational research enabled through the use and development of advanced electron microscopy techniques. The CNM is a DOE Office of Science user facility that provides researchers from across the globe with world-class expertise and instrumentation for multidisciplinary nanoscience and nanotechnology research. All research and tools are designed to support cutting-edge staff and user science. The candidate will be responsible for two areas of equal emphasis, following a 50/50" model of time commitment both to staff-led science and user research. The first area will be developing a world-leading experimental program based on harnessing the capabilities of advanced electron microscopy techniques with an emphasis on time resolved and in situ methods aligned with CNM strategic scientific directions. Assistant Scientist, NST, Center for Nanoscale Materials

The Interfacial Processes Group of the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee. The successful candidate will perform research on the structure and reactivity of mineral (i.e., silicate, carbonate, and oxide) surfaces during reaction with aqueous solutions. The specific research will focus on, but not limited to, evolution of interfacial structure and chemistry under perturbation, such as changes in ion sorption structure and speciation at charged mineral surfaces and dissolution and (re)precipitation of sparingly soluble minerals, which are closely relevant to various geochemical processes occurring during energy production, contaminant transport and remediation, and geological carbon sequestration and utilization. Under the guidance of a supervisor, the postdoctoral appointee will use a combination of synchrotron X-ray surface scattering and imaging approaches. The work also involves the interpretation of experimental data and the presentation of results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed literature. Postdoctoral Appointee - Geochemistry Research of the Interfacial Processes Group

The Time Resolved Research Group in the X-ray Science Division invites applications for a Postdoctoral Appointee position. The role focuses on enhancing time-resolved X-ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopy capabilities and is part of a collaborative project between the X-ray Science Division and the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to develop and enhance time-resolved total fluorescence detected XAS techniques and high-energy resolution fluorescence detected XAS techniques. You will apply ultrafast X-ray and laser spectroscopies to investigate electronic and structural evolutions during photochemical and photocatalytic reactions. Postdoctoral Appointee - Time-resolved X-ray spectroscopy

Firefighter/Paramedic

The Advanced Grid Modeling group at Argonne National Laboratory's Center for Energy, Environmental, and Economic Systems Analysis is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher. This role is ideal for someone passionate about advancing the integration of inverter-based resources into the power grid. The selected candidate will be involved in developing power electronics and hardware in the loop simulation laboratory as well as supporting ongoing DOE projects. Postdoctoral Appointee - Researcher

A postdoctoral position on exascale atomistic simulations, AI/machine learning and data analysis of ferroelectric devices is available immediately at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Lab (near Chicago, USA). The Chemical and Fuel Cycle Technologies division is seeking a Section Manager for the newly formed Materials Engineering group. The group leader reports to the Pyroprocess & Materials Development Department Manager. The person in this position will provide technical leadership and oversight for on-going and proposed R&D activities related to materials development and applications, including glass, ceramic, and metallic nuclear waste form and containment materials, and administrative management of staff, laboratory facilities and equipment, including a scanning electron microscope facility. They will maintain sponsor satisfaction by providing comprehensive technical reports and presentations of high quality that meet research objectives and schedules, pursue new research opportunities based on technically sound and focused proposals, and serve as a technical point of contact to provide information on matters related to applied materials technologies.
